A collection of medal ribbons from the United Kingdom, the British Commonwealth and the United States of America
Site last updated: 26th November 2023
This is a collection of medal ribbons which will represent almost every order, decoration, gallantry medal, campaign medal and long service medal that has been issued. By no means complete, but hopefully comprehensive, this site is something that started in a small room in a lodging house in Jersey in 1993, when I put together three medal ribbons on a bit of cardboard - and my interest has grown from there.
Not being in a position to collect full size medals, I collected miniature medals for over fifteen years, my proudest possessions being a single medal from the 1878 Afghanistan campaign (Queen Victoria) and a group of four, featuring a world war one trio (1914 Star) and a Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct medal (Queen Victoria), which belonged to a Royal Marine Sergeant, who actually served aboard H.M.S. Victory, when she was still floating in Portsmouth Harbour at the turn of the 20th century.
The order of preference has been referenced to Whitaker's Concise Almanac 2012.
Each ribbon will be connected to the Wikipedia entry for that particular item, and where there is no wiki entry, there will either be an entry from another link - or no link until one is found, but so far there is only one in the latter.
All of the ribbons have been drawn by me, using Paint Shop Pro 7
